Recently, the PCA Youth Center organized a coding workshop to introduce aspiring students to programming in Python and Javascript. Over the course of a few hours, the nearly 40 kids developed a foundational understanding through a combination of direct teaching and hands-on projects.
The Python group, taught by Aaron Peng and Darren Wang, worked through coding a magic 8 ball, mad libs, and the game higher lower. The students demonstrated their newfound knowledge of Python by adding their individual modifications to each program. After the workshop concluded, the students excitedly shared their projects with each other. By the end, the fun atmosphere and engaging projects had given the students a solid understanding of loops, if statements, and user input.
Overall, this event received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both participants and volunteers. Thanks to all the volunteers who made this event possible!
